The UBC Indigenous Legal Clinic in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside is both a free community legal service and a law school course where upper year law students work in a clinical environment full time for a term. The clinic is founded on ‘experiential learning’ principles that embrace the concept of ‘learning by doing’.

BC Provincial Court judges spent evenings and weekends meeting the public in a variety of Law Week activities earlier this month. Around the province there was a distinct Star Wars theme to some of the activities.

The Provincial Court of BC made history last week as the first court in Canada to hold a Twitter Town Hall. Lauded by participants and described as “an obvious success” by Vancouver Sun columnist Ian Mulgrew, the event even earned the Court the coveted social media status of ‘trending’ in Vancouver.
