Trial scheduling reforms being implemented in the Provincial Court of B.C. expand the duties of judicial case managers who schedule trials, preside at initial appearances, and now preside in assignment courts in 7 locations around the province.

The Court’s judicial case managers have not only assumed additional duties in assignment courtrooms, but they have also mastered new trial scheduling software during the past year.

Judicial case managers perform stressful work under considerable time pressures. They deal directly with lawyers and with people representing themselves. The Court acknowledges the commitment of the judicial case managers to spearhead improvements to trial scheduling and thanks them for their efforts in this regard.
